Why Organ Donation Is Important and What Kind of Organs Can You Donate?

Our body is made up of many organs that make up specific organs. These organs are systems of cells and tissues that assign specific functions such as respiration and digestion. The main organs that experience this degeneration are the heart, lungs and kidneys. Usually, these organs deteriorate along with the whole body. But diseases that affect specific organs eventually destroy them, while other parts of the body remain healthy.

When an organ is affected by disease and worsens due to it, some therapies work. As dialysis works for the kidneys. But if all other treatments fail, organ transplant surgery is the best alternative. In this procedure, the damaged organ is replaced with a healthy one.

Healthy organs are not easily found. There is only evidence from those who have registered themselves as organ donors. This results in long wait lists of recipients. As mentioned earlier, the list goes on and on, as there are not as many donors as there are recipients. There are cases where a patient loses his or her life while waiting for an organ transplant.

It’s time to look for family and friends who can donate. These are called living donors.

So, what kind of organs can you donate?

First there are the life-saving organs such as the heart, kidneys, pancreas, lungs, liver and intestines. Sometimes when repairing joints and bones, other tissues such as bones, ligaments and ligaments can be used. All of these elements are appropriate for donation. Some of the other organs that can be donated are the corneas, heart valves and skin.

What are the chances of waiting for an organ donor?

Sometimes the waiting time for an element is too long. Instead of sitting on the waiting list and getting sick, many patients turn to family and friends for help. As mentioned earlier, this is called a living donation. Whole kidneys are organs that are commonly donated through living donations. Recently, parts of the liver and lungs have also been donated in this way. The extracted organ area regenerates so there is no damage.

Finally, there must be a suitable fit for any organ transplant to take place. Donated organs match different criteria such as blood and tissue type, immune status. Other factors such as medical emergencies and time spent on the waiting list are also taken into account.

The limit here is only for those diagnosed with HIV or cancer or diseases that cause bacteria in their bloodstream. These are situations where organ donation is exempt.

There will always be a shortage of organs needed for transplant surgery and the demand will always be high. This is why voluntary organ donation is so important. The good news is that there is no age limit for donations. It is definitely a classic act and can give someone new life.
